The City of Wolverhampton Council Information Governance Team offers a service that supports cost-effective and comprehensive compliance with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (which will replace the Data Protection Act 1998 in May 2018), Freedom of Information Act 2000 and the Environmental Information Regulations 2004, along with Information Security and Records Management.
The team has a good understanding of the local government and public sector environment. When you engage us, unlike many private providers, we do not need to be told about the environment you face. We understand and we have no agenda, other than to deliver what is laid out below. Supporting this, our offering provides schools with access to:
• Experienced and professionally-qualified staff
• Strong links with regional and national Information Governance networks
• Knowledge and experience of working with schools and the education sector
While our consultants are available via email and telephone, our intention is to build close relationships between our team and schools and ultimately to develop a school’s knowledge and understanding to a point that they can support many of their own daily needs regarding Information Governance.
Crucially, unlike many external providers there are no “hidden” extras. We provide both an inclusive “Core” service and an “Optional” service in addition to any bespoke service that can be created to cater for an individual school’s needs. Our service and charging structure is clearly defined and if we need to vary it, or quote a price for a piece of work, you will be informed in advance and given the option not to proceed.

The Towers is a lovely Victorian building in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park, surrounded by extensive grounds, offering modern facilities and equipment and staffed by a highly qualified dedicated team of experts.
The Towers is licenced by Adventurous Activity Licencing Authority (A.A.L.A.), a part of the H.S.E., to provide adventurous activities.
SIMS Support in Schools and Academies
The SIMS Support team are committed to providing a high quality, personal and professional service to fully support SIMS throughout schools and academies. The team will work closely with schools to support and develop the use of SIMS and assist in tailoring the system to meet your individual needs.
This SLA is suitable for all schools and academies and will provide helpdesk, on-site support, training and consultancy relating to the use of SIMS and the information it contains. It aims to provide schools with the appropriate tools to effectively discharge a range of management, administrative and curriculum functions and to enhance teaching and learning.
Supporting School Improvement
Additional School Improvement Advisor time (above that allocated to your school category) can now be purchased on a bespoke, individualised basis to further support school improvement processes in your school (available to maintained, academy or free schools at every phase).
All LA School Improvement Advisors [SIAs] are former headteachers and senior leaders with excellent records of raising standards in their own schools. They all have significant experience of supporting improvement through review, alongside the planning and implementation of adaptation to school systems that lead to effective teaching and learning whilst as a result of their regular and successful work alongside HMI and Ofsted they have up to date understanding of the challenges that face schools through inspection.
These officers share the same high aspirations as you for your school and your pupils and have a broad and deep knowledge of the improvement challenges your school faces.
