Risk Management and Insurance
Provision of a comprehensive insurance programme and service to protect the people, assets and liabilities of the school.
Audit Services undertake a variety of audit work within schools and academy trusts in order to provide assurance that schools’ financial systems and risk management arrangements are operating effectively.
We work closely with other local authorities and professional bodies to ensure that the services we offer to schools remain in line with statutory requirements and best practice, and we remain up to date with emerging issues. We provide internal audit services to all of the authority’s maintained schools and a number of academy trusts within the city. The section has a strong track record of providing a quality service to schools and academies and can demonstrate an excellent record of customer satisfaction in relation to these services. All of our staff are professionally qualified (CIPFA, ACCA, MIIA, CIMA) and are highly experienced in school audit arrangements including the academy sector.
There is no charge for the minimum service provided. This minimum service includes all maintained schools being required to have an internal audit undertaken by City of Wolverhampton Council’s internal auditors as a minimum every 4 years. This is in order to comply with statutory requirements and to provide assurance to the council’s Director of Finance.
The Cleaning and Caretaking Services provides a comprehensive cleaning service to schools across the City.
The key elements of the cleaning services provided are:
• A comprehensive cleaning service to your requirements – we provide the staff, staff cover, materials, equipment and financial management systems
• Compliance with relevant legislation regarding Health and Safety and staff training
• Commitment to a strong partnership between you, the customer and ourselves to ensure the optimum cleaning provision for now and in the future.
NQT Registration and Support - Appropriate Body
This SLA will help you to provide the bridge between initial teacher training and a career in teaching.
Once your newly qualified teacher (NQT) has been appointed, the Headteacher has a statutory obligation to register them with an Appropriate Body (AB) before they start work. The School Standards Team can act as an AB for LA maintained schools, Academies, Free schools and Independent Schools.
The service includes:
• Telephone advice,
• In-school support when NQTs are encountering difficulties,
• a paired lesson observation for quality assurance and training purposes,
and, if the induction tutor or mentor are new to the role a validation visit for professional development is offered.
• We will also undertake the necessary administrative processes on behalf of the school.
