Visit Leader training is focused on active risk management and group management on educational visits and offsite visits. It is an Outdoor Education Advisors’ Panel nationally certificated course. The course covers the identification of relevant significant hazards and the importance of placing successful control measures including supervision and group management strategies.
The course is offered in support of the leader’s role in educational visits and offsite activities. It remains the role of the employer (e.g. headteacher or educational visits coordinator) to determine the leader’s suitability and competence to undertake a leadership role on any visit or venture.
The course is not Educational Visits Coordinator training or a substitute for activity or terrain specific training which is provided by a sport’s national governing body or employer.
This is practical training to increase competence and confidence of Visits Leaders and is particularly suitable for NQT and established staff who have no or limited experience of leading a visit. Certification for this course lasts for three years.
This training is being offered at no cost to schools that have joined the Health & Safety Essentials SLA and have not exceeded their allowance. However, for schools not in the SLA a cost of £248 will be chargeable for each member of staff.
Please note that once a place is taken the charge will be made unless there are extenuating circumstances or at least 5 working days’ notice of cancellation.
Please bring a packed lunch and wear appropriate clothing for outdoor activities including waterproof footwear.
