Course Objective – To give a clear understanding of the responsibilities, duties and role as a Fire Evacuation Marshal. This course is suitable for staff with responsibility for the safe evacuation and inspection of the school site in the event of a fire. It is also useful for caretakers and other non-teaching staff, giving delegates an all-round knowledge of what to do in the event of a fire and practical hands on experience of tackling a fire with a fire extinguisher and fire blanket. The course will also introduce you to the local authority approved documentation (fire log book, fire evacuation plan and the fire risk assessment) although these documents will not be discussed in detail. Certification for this course lasts for 3 years.

This training is being offered at no cost to schools that have joined the Health & Safety Essentials SLA and have not exceeded their allowance. However, for schools not in the SLA a cost of £124 will be chargeable for each member of staff. Please note that once a place is taken the charge will be made unless there are extenuating circumstances or at least 5 working days’ notice of cancellation.
